hi everyone
I remember a day when this forum was crawling with "professionals", now posts sit here and go unanswered for days, sometimes weeks. Pretty sad but I guess everything on the web loses its "fad" status someday.
Anyways, heres my issue,
I have a Western Digital SATA 500 GB EXTERNAL drive that connects by USB, when I had it on XP it ran ok but the BIG issue was if i didnt use it for awhile it would go to "sleep" this is just more of an annoyance then anything, shouldnt II BE ABLE to DECIDE when it shuts off, i hate waiting for a minute to grab data when i access a folder after an hour or so, and with this performance i would NEVER dream of running program applications off this drive.
I thought if i moved it to WIN2K3 the performance would improve, boy was i wrong lol, for some reason it behaves WORSE in win2k3, when i am accessing a folder it freezes the WHOLE PC for like 5 minutes, only way to regain control is to UNPLUG it from the pc, which of course immediately allows me to use the pc again, its amazing to me how companys can keep producing JUNK when technology is so powerful.
Hopefully someone can give me a constructive and HELPFUL answer on this forum
have a good day everyone
J
