WCS 5.1x - Retrieve category sequence

I am wanting to display a list of shopping categories, but I want them sorted by sequence number (CATGRPREL table - SEQUENCE field). Can I simply invoke a getter (to get the sequence) from an existing WCS bean or do I need to write a custom bean in order to do this? I can currently display the categories, but there only appear in the order they are on the DB table. Example code would be extremely helpful here.
