Way to pull data from InDesign into excel or other source

We are publishing a 240 page catalog, and have just realized that the data the index was created is way out of date. We have made tons of changes to the data in the InDesign document and now need to pull this data our of InDesign, into excel or some other way like this to be able to re-pour the index.

Does anybody have any ideas? If we do this by hand, this is not going to be a fun weekend at all.

I think you can copy and paste tables to and fro indesign and excel.

Actually, I'm darn toothin' 100% positive on that.
