Is there a way to create a watermark on a report in Paradox?

The only way I know to create the watermark effect is to change the font color to "Gray". My problem is that on the report I have a table frame that will have many records. Each of those records needs to display the watermark that is specific to that record. Essentially, the watermark should carry over more than one column of the table, possibly more due to the length of the watermark data. Does anyone have any insight on how this might be done? If you need more explanation please let me know.

Thanks,
Amy

You will not be able to do this with a tableframe. If a field is defined in the record object it will be bound by the width of the collum. What you could do is setup the data in a Multi Record Object (MRO) instead of a Table Frame. You can setup the fields to look just like the tableframe, but the watermark field can be streched accross the record object of the MRO. You will need to make sure that the size to fit, fit width, and fit height are turned off on the field objects. If your tableframe is lined, you can either use the line tool or use text boxes for the lines. I went to using text boxes because it decreased the prep time for the reports substantially, plus uses less toner. Might not be the look you are going for though.

What kind of watermark is this? Is it already labeled in the table or are you going to calculate it as you go?

The watermark is a calculated field in which I'm combining the data from 2 other fields together. It will be a different description for each record.

What I've done for now which seems to work, but is not my favorite option, is to use the substr() method and break up my data in between the table columns. For instance, I take the first 10 characters from the field and put that in the first column, then I take the next 6 characters and put them in the second column, and so on. (Not all the columns are the same width, so that's why the second column can only fit 6 characters.)

Thanks for your response!
