We had a sprinkler system go off in one of our wiring closets. All of the 110 and 66 blocks were soaked. Is there anything I can do to prevent corrosion? Should I use an electrical contact cleaner?
CRC makes several products that will remove moisture and keep them from corrosion. I have used it about 5 years ago on a water leak and have not had the first bit of troubles. This ran down 3 floors and over 600 copper pairs.
The quickest way to stop any corrosion and electrolysis is to de-energize all the cables so no current is flowing. Then use whatever measures are appropriate to remove the water from the equipment, compressed air, WD40...
