I have a customer where he currntly has VPN setup on the following products x700 x550e edge x5 x15. I staticly route through our Netopia modem to his watchguard box on PPPoa everything connects and works great,,,We change to PPPoe "which is what we are doing across our telco network"
he cannot connect. Nothing else is done but change modem from PPPoa to a PPPoe setting. ...Ok the kicker to it all...
When you change from PPPoe he can connect to a watchguard setup on a Comcast modem,,,no changes made to the Comcast.
So to test our internal network i have two Adtran 3448 routers with Hardware VPN and they work great on PPPoe or PPPoa....

What is the differane with watchguard in reguard to a static route on PPPoa to PPPoe

I see no reason why it should not work.

When i change my leased line router to my adsl router ( if the line fails)

I had to make sure the router was set to public addressing with no NAT. My watchguard must have a public IP on the external interface.

Also the router had a firewall biuld in ( wasn't obvious)

Stop my e-mail NAT working.

There is a ppoe option on the watchgaurd interface setup
