We are using Watchguard Firebox III/700 with MUVPN ipsec remote access for about 10 users. In the past, we had no more than 3-4 concurrent users in the system at each time and did not have any issues with remote access.
We are implementing new internal software (CRM) which will require external users to be connected to our network (our Exchange server with their Outlook clients) much more frequently.
Today, when we tried bringing 8 users in through a MUVPN at the same time for training, Watchguard could not handle it and users could not connect to our network - their Outlook connections just kept hanging. I tried experimenting with pinging our server with different packet sizes while connected through with VPN and kept getting very slow responses if any.
Has anybody ever faced the same problem with Watchguard not scaling for concurrent users? Is there a limit of how much total bandwidth can be used for VPN connections? Is this a setting that can be modified?
Bandwidth hasn't ever been a problem for us? We have 70 people on the network, with fractional T1 connection (512 up and down stream).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
