watched folders dissapear

I ams using Mac OSX, acrobat 6
I am trying to set up watched folders on my desktop. I can create the folder and apply the settings. As soon as I quit distiller the folders do not retain their "watched" status. The options remain in the folder but when I go to distiller and look in the watched folder list they have disappeared.
