was email really sent?

We have 4 people in a dist group, they normally recieve emails from others sent to this dist grp.
One user said they sent an email on 9/22, but the 4 people in dist grp never recieved the email.
We had that user forward the 'sent' email, it looks ok but is there any way to tell when that email was really sent, if at all?

Depends on what the server is capable of telling you. You don't mention which server software is at play here. There are specific forums for the various email server platforms.

Sorry, should have given more info. But we were able to see incoming emails for that time period, we never got the email that they said they sent.
