What does this mean ?

There is nothing I can find on search engines or Caldera's Tech Articles except that is to do with TCP/IP code.

The server is SCO 5.0.5 with all patches exporting a filesystem for another SCO 5.0.5 to mount.

This message appears sporadically on the console (10 to 20 times a day)

Any help would be appreciated

It sounds to me like some kind of networking problem, like a switch overloaded, a bad cable, or a bad nic card.

Xdr_string is a function used for string conversion in c programming. XDR stands for eXternal Data Representation, which is a standard network data format. See . All that said, the error is definitely network related.

The problem may not be on your SCO server. The SCO console prints some general network broadcast messages on the screen. I used to have an old COM server that caused error messages to print on my SCO console.

You should check your error logs (scoadmin, System, Logs, System Logs Manager) and your user mail files (/usr/spool/mail, check especially the root mail and anything that looks like a system user) for clues pointing to the source.
