I have a form in coldfusion and when submitting it performs a database query and displays the results. When you click back a message displays:

Warning: Page has Expired
The page you requested was created using information you submitted in a form. This page is no longer available. As a security precaution, Internet Explorer does not automatically resubmit your information for you.
To resubmit your information and view this web page, click the refresh button.

I have other pc with the same and different versions of iexplorer and none of them have this problem. I've tried adding a service pack but i doesn't work. The PC is windows XP Pro with iexplorer 6.0.26 (something like that)

Someone told me this is a coldfusion problem but i dont think so.

Help Please

Cheers
Pete

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I would look at the security settings of your IE client first.

Tools > Internet Options > Security

Just compare this to the settings for the machines that don't exhibit the problem.

Just a thought.

Often, IE will do this when the Temporary Files store starts getting full. Try cleaning out your temp files.

I don't work with CF, but I do work with PHP. In PHP, this CAN be due to a server setting. It has to do with how long a page is available in the cache. In PHP, the setting needs to be changed in the PHP.ini file. There's probably a similar setting for ColdFusion.

Check out this thread: thread232-612493. If that doesn't fix it, try posting this message in the CF forum (forum232) and I be you get a quick answer that fixes your problem.

Good luck,
Ron

Hi Pete. I have the same problem that has started in just the last week. I've searched the web endlessly for help and can't fix it. I have reset all internet options, security, etc. to default. I have matched the settings to another computer that does not have the problem and it doesn't fix it either. I have reinstalled XP, all the updates, patches, fixes and still nothing. Pages I used to be able to hit the back button on will no longer work. It seems to be pages that involved entering data or are secure. I get this Warning message and have to hit refresh and then okay. It is a pain. I didn't change anything on my machine that I can recall when this started other than a defrag a day or two earlier and removal of QuickTime.

I have updated Norton, made sure there was no spyware/adware running, etc. Any other suggestions? I have a Gremlin.

Thanks,
Deanne

You may want to stick this line of code in your application.cfm file

Code:
<cfheader name="cache-control" value=7200>
It seems to fix antoher "back button" issue (page cannot be displayed). It may work for this.

Hope This Helps!

Ecobb...I searched my computer for an application.cfm file and do not have one. Maybe that is the problem? I'm not a programmer so not sure if your suggestion is applicable to my situation. I am just a web store owner who is suddenly experiencing problems using my back button on several sites that I enter data on...other machines aren't doing this. Just mine in the last week. Is there some new virus or Microsoft update that is flawed that could be causing this? Very frustrating....

Thanks!

Deanne

racerd...

It does sound like the message you are getting is the standard "content expired" warning... and it's strange that you have never experienced it before. Depending on how the page with the form is constructed, it is not unexpected to see the "expired" warning after submission when you press the back button.

Maybe the websites you are experiencing this on have recently upgraded/changed something (either at a server configuration level or at the web application level).

I am not a "Windows person" but maybe you changed the caching settings somehow on your web browser (increased the cache size, had a very small sized cache, filled up your hard disk, changed how often the web browser checks for updated pages). That's the only thing I can think of that may have caused this to happen now (when it didn't happen previously).

Anyone?

Jeff

i thought you get this message everytime you submit a form via post and they you try and refresh the page that showed the results.

zzzzzz

Well...here is an update on what happened. I decided to try and reinstall Windows XP over the existing one. It did a new install of the home edition. About 3/4 through it got hung up on a file error: unregmp2.exe - entry point not found. The procedure entry point GETIUMS could not be located in the dynamic link library. MSDART.DLL. I would click okay and kept getting the error. After the 3rd install attempt with no luck I looked on the web and others have experienced this and just kept hitting ok and waiting and it would finally continue the install. Luckily this worked and the install continued.

I then went and did all the critical updates and patches, etc. which took forever. All temporary files, caches, etc. were cleared out and numerous reboots. Went to a few sites that gave me the Expired noticed and they were still doing it, unlike the week before. ;-( I went to bed mad. Turned on the computer this morning and thought I would try one more time...now they work. I can go back and forth no problem.

I have no idea what the glitch was. This was happening all of sudden on about 5 different websites and I don't think they all changed their sites at the same time. So there was something with my machine....but what?? Hope it doesn't come back. I keep the cache, temporary files, etc cleared out and space doesn't seem to have been an issue either.

I don't know...strange. Thanks for all the suggestions and I'll let you know if it comes bakc. ;-)

Three engineers, an electrical engineer, a mechanical engineer and a computer engineer, were riding in a car that suddenly sputtered to a stop.

The electrical engineer said "There's something wrong with the electrical system." The mechanical engineer said "No, something mechanical is wrong." The computer engineer said "Let's close the windows, get out, get back in, open the windows, and see if it works.
