Hello folks

I recently updated a BCM 400 with all the latest system and desktop patches 030 and 018. The BCM 400 rebooted OK, but it then suffered no incoming or outgoing calls.

We found that the alarm "Digital Trunk Media" was disabled / restarting etc was being outputted all the time, every few seconds. Looking at the physical lines section, showed that no lines were present!. A look at the resources showed that Bus's 6.0 and 7.0 were still set to DASS2 OK. However I was able to change them to PRI and view the physical lines, but I couldn't revert them back to DASS2 again.

After various reboots and different restores from backups done 6 and 12 months ago, I decided to use my test BCM system which was also recently fully patched with system 030. The fault migrated across, so I then knew it wasn't hardware or disk related.

Another sympton was that the digital Media trunk modules kept flashing like a Christmas tree every few seconds as this site had two ISDN 30 bearers on two modules.

I finally used a day one disk image and rebuilt it with system patch 029 and desktop 017. This was all OK, using a backup done the night before (lucky for me!).

I'm suspecting that Avaya hasn't realised that quite a number of systems in the UK still use DASS for their lines.

Please be aware, in case it happens to you!.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

I can confirm that the latest Desktop 018 patch is OK as I've rebuilt my test system again with this. Also the latest desktop messaging is OK.

Dave, I tried this in our labs this morning and did not have the problem.

That's odd. You could change from DASS2 to PRI and back OK?. Also you could see the active lines OK?.

My fault moved onto my test system with Patch 030 already installed.
Thanks for testing it out. I've raised a case with Avaya as I still think it's odd. Perhaps it was because I had two Trunk modules on this site?.

I only tested the one DTI. Let me know what happens. Thanks.

Tested the one DTI, by changing it from DASS to PRI & back again to DASS2 - no problem, albeit I don't have ISDN simulator to verify further (just the module does come up).

Done some further testing and my DTI seems unhappy on bus 6 when configured for DASS, yet okay with PRI. I'd steer clear too of applying this.

I raised a case with Avaya and they called me today to confirm that it caused them a problem. I now understand that it's going for further checking. I'm guessing that it will be withdrawn next week.

I got called out to a fault today by my tech support who remotely installed this SU30 patch for a software fix,
The system had Dass2 lines.

Yes lit up like a christmas tree.
No Calls In or Out......

THey eventually used the NNsupport and Password for the day and installed via Putty some files .
They then did a MSC upload and the problem was fixed..

snowman, you got your ticket reference you can post here, in case it happens to someone else (Avaya can then follow the same actions or at least contact the person who resolved it)?

Hi Dave,

whats the update on this? I still see su30 on ESPL, meaning it's there for anyone to download.

paul

Hello Paul

I've not heard anything more since last week, 1st June. This is what I had below.

Hello David,
A Product Defect has been issued for the SU 030 problem with dass2 lines becoming invalid it is being worked under WI00890500. Once I have a project time scsle \i will advise accordingly.

Regards

Finally Avaya has removed 030 from the PEP site. Here are the current releases for 4.0.
