Hello,

I have a Laserjet 5si with built-in 4MB of RAM. Whenever I print large files, it warms up, prints one page then stops, warms up, and prints the second, warms up, prints 3rd, etc, etc. This seems to only happen when I print off the internet. I tried printing a word doc that was 5MB and it spit one page out after the next, like it should.

Then I thought maybe it was just that website I was printing off of, but then I came to tek-tips, clicked on "Forum list" at the top-left of this site and tried printing that... same results. I've even tried saving the info to a folder and printing it that way, instead of just printing directly off the internet, no luck.

About a month ago, I had win98 on this machine and the same problem was happening, so my boss started messing around with it for a couple of hours and he got it to work. Only problem is, he forgot what he did, and even if he did remember, it might not work now because that was 98, now we have XP on it.

I thought maybe I needed to add extra ram, so I called a printer shop and they told me they only had a 16MB stick for the Laserjet 5si, which would cost me $279. I don't think I need to add any extra ram though, since I had it working last month. I almost wish I would've kept 98 on it, but this particular cpu needs to access a terminal server, so I figured since 2000 and up come w/a CAL, I might as well upgrade.

If anyone has any extrodinary experience with printers, or more specificaly the 5si, please let me know. I don't need to hear "did you try installing a different driver?" if you know what I mean. Thanks for taking the time to read this thread, and thanks even more if you can help me.

p.s. if I forgot to add any specs, I'll do so as I remember them.
