Hello,

I have been looking for and in need of the following hard drive:

Seagate 7200.11
Model: ST31500341AS
Capacity: 1.5 TB
Firmware: SD37 -- THIS ONE IS IMPORTANT

I see these drives all over the place, but all the ones I have seen have the firmware CC1U and I'm looking for SD37 firmware.

If you have a working one of these drives please let me know.

Thanks,

Josh

This is NOT a buy/sell forum. The firmware wouldn't even matter if the drive is the same model. I've seen servers over the years with not only different firmwares on hard drives - even drives sourced from different manufacturers with the same specs. Not a problem at all.

Sorry about that.

What about for replacement parts? Does the firmware not matter then? I am looking to swap out the PCB boards and was under the impression that the swap had to come from a drive that is both the same model and also has the same Firmware on it...

Usually, when swapping out PCBs, the matching model & firmware gives you the best chance of success. Still, no guarantees. eBay is your friend, be patient, sign up for a subscription to be notified based on keywords when new items are posted.

Great idea Tony. I've been keeping my eye on eBay but did not realize you could do a keyword based notification subscription. I will definitely do that. Thanks.

I'm trying to figure that out. Since my current drive has failed there is no easy way to update it through the computer. I have been considering this method: and have also been going back and forth with Seagate support as I have read that they may upgrade for free if the drive falls within the category of drives with faulty firmware.

Basically I'm trying to cover all my bases so in addition to the above, I am also looking for a duplicate drive (with my current firmware) in the event that I am unable to upgrade the firmware.
