In a document library, I need to restrict users from changing other users' document metadata.
With permissions, I can either allow people to edit documents in this library or not. That's not good enough. Of course, I could set specific permissions per document, but that useful only if I have fixed number of documents (reference library), which is not the case.
With SharePoint Designer I could only act after the fact, but I'd like to prevent it, because I don't know what was the value before the user changed it.
I don't see how one could set a workflow to prevent changes.
Any help is very much appreciated.
P.S. script not allowed.
