Hi, I just started using CR and need to figure it out soon. I know SQL, but can't figure out how to join using the GUI. Is there a place I can just write the whole query? Thanks!

In CR 9 you can use real SQL.

In earlier versions you could edit some of the SQL, by selecting:

Database->Show SQL Query

To join tables use:

Database->Visual Linking Expert

Drag and drop to make joins, right click to change the type.

-k

I used the show Show SQL Query option but I couldn't edit the SQL statement. I understand how the tools work, but I can get the data I want faster by writing my on statement. What am I missing?
Thanks for your help.

In version 9 you can't edit the SQL generated by crystal when linking tables as you could in earlier versions.

You need to base your report on a command rather than linking tables. This is done in the database expert using the Add Command option of your connection.
