BEFORE purchase of new PC, I installed winxp pro on 4.0g hdd ancient PC and it worked, but with OS install gobbling 1.5g decided to add 92g hdd. Ancient system refused to detect 92g hdd AND no longer would detect its original 4.0g hdd.
AFTER purchased new PC, I removed 40g drive that came with system. Replaced with the 92g hdd, installed winxp pro and all is well. New PC has space for a second hdd and I eventually plan to reinstall the 40g hdd as slave.
However... I still have the 4.0g hdd from my old PC which has MS Powerpoint (software came installed) that I want on new 92g hdd. I already have recovered/reinstalled all other software files via floppy backups and original cds. Do not have Ppt cd nor access to another PC.
Q. 1:
If I temporarily install old 4.0g hdd to my new PC, will I be able to transfer the Ppt installation from it to the new 92g hdd? If yes, what is the procedure? Issues to expect?
Q. 2:
Can a tape backup be transferred to a CD and the CD used to reinstall software? (Cost prohibitive? I do have a current system backup of entire ancient 4.0g hdd on HP Colorado Travan 8g tape but NO tape drive on new PC.) Ppt software can be found for less than $200 on the web but would prefer NOT to pay for it again. Thanks!
