want to make a menu with masks in buttons need help

i want to make a meun sort of like the one that is on the top at

but one that is a bit more flashy. i have the top of the menu set up it looks like tabs any way what i want them to do when i mouse over them is to extend down and show more buttons that are below in space i got the menu to extend but when ever i take the mouse off of button it disapears please help i will post the fla if any one needs to see what i mean

if anyone would take a look at it what i am trying to do is when you mouse over a button a mc playes and when you take your mouse off the button the mc continues playing and it goes back the way it was before the drop down menu things you gave would work if i knew more about flash and action script if anyone can give me a hint as what action script to change of if you will take a look at the file and change it or what ever gets this done i am getting desperate
