I have a Windows 2000 Domain Controller, with Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, etc.. installed. RAS is also on this machine. THere is a second DC running AD, DNS, and WINS. RAS was configured to hand out only 1 IP address but I have 2 IPs set aside in the scope,Lets say(10.10.10.10 and 10.10.10.11). the .11 address is always handed out to my client, which is what I want. The .10 address gets registered in WINS as the server and causes a duplicate name on the network, browsing stops, bad things start to happen.... I need to keep the current setup but have the .10 IP not be registered in WINS..
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.....

the .10 ip address is grabed for internal loop back on the RAS server. To stop it from regesting on the Wins Have the RAS server deal out the Ip address and Exlcude that range of IP address on your DHCP server so don't end up with duplicate ip address. that should keep it from registering. You allso mite have to set RAS server NIC so not to register on the Wins server.

If you have pure Windows Network you do not need WINS. Also Wins server will no longer be updated after W2K it has been end of lifed.

hope this helps
