Citrix Admin's, Lend me your ears (or eyes),

I have a Citrix Server configured with two modems attached for dial-up access. Using NT 4.0 TS SP5; MF 1.8 SP2. dial-up access is occasionally sluggish, and I want to know if there are any recommendations for improving dial-up performance.

Thanks in advance.

Da Ruster.

Ruster,

First things to check are your standard settings, as you have FR 1 you will have the latest wizzy version of speed screen, make sure all the relevant settings have been configured, found in the published or custom conections settings screen under default options, having these turned on will help tremendously.

Play with the bitmap cashing also, I have personally found that the defaults work fine, but depending on the application being run it may be useful to tweak if they are particulaly graphical (I have published sage financials over citrix and it runs quicker in a dial up session than it does client/server over the LAN ;-P )

Does the application require 256 colours ? if not reduce the default to 16, and make sure that sound has been disabled unless it is absolutely nescessary.
Same goes for the resolution, most apps run fine in 800x600 sometimes even 480x640 (less often though) minimise the specification of the application as much as you can.

Are your users dialing into a seperate NT RAS server, or dialing directly into the Citrix box ? It is recomended that you have a seperate RAS server freeing up resources for the Citrix server.

Thats it for now, let me have some more details and ill see if there is anything else I can offer.

Hope it helps...
