Want to create a pop-up window in excel 97

Is there a form/control that allows a simple (information only) pop-up window to happen when the user enters a specific data into a cell? I am using a drop down list and one of the choices simply needs to evoke a warning to the user (then the user can escape or close it and move on).

Also, I am just learning to dabble in Visual Basic for Excel (and am excited about it) - is there a difinitve book for "beginners" out there.

have a look at data validation (data menu) - this is another way to create a drop down list, but you can also create an input message and an error alert, which i think will cover what you need.

can't help with the vba book but i believe anything by john walkenbach is well regarded by vba heads
