We have a user at our company who is suspected of some wrong doings and we want to copy there HD. However, it has a password at the BIOS level and I can’t get it to boot from CD or Floppy.
What would be the best solution to copy his HD with out blowing out or resetting the bios password? We don’t want to give any indication that we were missing with it.
I was thinking about pulling out the HD out installing it in another computer, coping it, then putting back. However, I just want to make sure that I don’t miss with the bios password…
Computer is an older Gateway.......
Thanks for any advice….

If this is truly at the BIOS/CMOS level you should be able to get access on another machine.
If this is hard drive level protection you are going to need one of the emergency access passwords that can be generated.
