Hi all,

Thanks again to those who post here and really help out us noobs. My question is somewhat similar to thread689-436403, in that it covers calling multiple extensions simultaneously, so I hope that I am not redundant. That said:

My company needs an "emergency" option, that basically allows someone from the outside to choose a selection (or extension) from the AA on our 007MLM (in our R2 Merlin Legend) and have all the phones ring, so that if anyone is in the office, someone will pick up. This is what I did. I know I screwed up, please tell me where. :)

1. I created a cover group (SysProg->Exit->Ext->More->Group Cover) 1, and assigned ext. 30 and 50 (for testing) to the group.

2. I created an ext. 780 (formerly not in use; SysProg->Exit->Ext->Grp Calling->GrpCoverage), and assigned to it group 1 (formerly not in use).

3. So, I programmed the AA selector code number 9 to "selector code transfer" (33:AA->1:Day Menu->6:ModMenu->9->1:Selector Code Transfer), and entered extension 780.

I confirmed all these settings with the "Inspect" button in WinSPM (also have an MLX-20L, but the software is more fun). I thought this might work, but no luck. For more info, we are using 2-digit phone extensions, and selector codes 1-6 are programmed for "direct extension transfer" with the AA, as our present extension range goes into the 60+ range. Hardware setup included below, if it is helpful.

Thanks so much!

James

Hardware: Merlin Legend R2 V4.0
------------------------------------
Chasis 1 (Card#:Card:ports)
0: CPU
1: 008 MLX: 10-17
2: 408: 18-25
3: 408: 26-33
4: 012: 34-45 (not used)
5: 408: 46-53
Chasis 2 (Card#:Card:ports)
0: 408 GS/LS: 54-61
1: 408 GS/LS: 62-69
2: 007 MLM (voicemail/attendant)
------------------------------------

First, get rid of all that you outlined above. It's the wrong way around.

Second, choose an unused adjunct extension associated with one of the MLX ports, let's say extension 17's adjunct. IF the default 2 digit dialplan was used, the adjunct number will be 717. If you used set up space, the adjunct will be 7307. Either way, unless you're useing MFM adapters (highly unlikely), no adjunct number is in use. Renumber the adjunct or leave it alone, it really doesn't matter. Just remember the number.

On each phone you want to ring for "VIP" or "Boss" mode, put a shared system access (SSA) button. Be sure to set for ring. Place up to 10 on any set. In the voicemail, set the selector code to transfer to extension 717 and all phones will ring with that button on it.

Programming the buttons can only be done from the console, not the set. Add an extra button if you think muliple calls will occur, as each will busy out that SSA button for the duration of the call.

Sloppy, takes a button away, but the only way to assign ring to multiple phones at the same time and know that the ringing call is a VIP.
