(1) Is there a place where one can buy obsolete FoxPro versions - that is "brand new" factory sealed packages,
which have never yet been owned, and are still in the original "factory wrap"? For Wintell platforms..

(2) This would be over-stoccked items (leftovers), for
very inexpensive sales prices (since they are obsoete)?

(3) Also, would such placs also sell OTHER "obsolete" software? word processing, spreadsheets, project-planning, cad, etc?

End-of-memo: Best to you..from ernieah.
I don't sell books, or work for any
publisher or computer company.

I you do a Search of this forum for words like 'buy' or 'purchase' you will find a number of postings where we have recommended possible sources for older versions of Foxpro.

However, note that as time goes by, these items become fewer and fewer and sources which previously had stock may have sold out months (or years) ago.

Good Luck,

Try eBay.

I have bought several new in box FoxPro 2.5, 2.6, etc programs there for under $25 each with all of the manuals, registration cards, etc. And still keep my eyes open for more just to get the documentation.

Remember that these programs are 10, 15, or even more years out of date. They have had no MS support at all for many years. Many of these programs have compatibility "issues" with newer versions of Windows. You may save a few bucks, but it is outdated technology that is becoming more and more obsolete every year.

I'm not saying the existing programs don't do their jobs, or that updating existing programs should not be done, since it is very expensive to rewrite an application. It's just that writing new programs in older, unsupported language versions is a big risk as newer OS versions change even more.

Visual FoxPro 9.0 sells for under USD$600. It has all the latest bells and whistles. Microsoft support of some sort is promised for another 7-8 years. While it is only 32-bit, it work sin compatibility mode in the new 64-bit Vista. While it is true the developer version is expensive if you buy many copies, just one developer can make hundreds or thousands of compiled end-user applications at no extra charge. The run-time licenses are unlimited by Microsoft.

(1) I had it in mind to run these OBSOLETE programs only on OBSOLETE computers (for users who are still USING obsolete
computers, ahd who want, or need, to have FoxPro.)

(2) Also, it's nice (I think) to have ON MY PERSONAL machines
exactly the same version\s of FoxPro (or other applications) as what a user I am assisting has on her\his machine. That way I can duplicate, on my own machine\s, any results, or errors, the user gets.

(3) Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. keeep then coming, please.

Unfortunately in spite of the code running on OBSOLETE computers, these versions of Foxpro are truly OBSOLETE in that they are no longer being sold through normal outlets. That just makes what you want to do MUCH more difficult.

As I am sure that you have found by doing the above recommended search, one former source of old versions was:
But even they have sold most of their old stock.

At this moment there is one on eBay
although I'd be cautious since there was no ONE version which worked on both "Windows and Macintosh" as is described
Regardless, I am guessing that it will be gone soon.

Just keep looking on the web.

Good Luck,
