I want the incoming calls to ring till someone ansers call. right now after 5 or 6 ring vm answer with the party you have called is not avilable. Any way to just have it ring till someone answers?

Remove fwd na from ext programming. Turn auto attendant off.

okay i manage to do that, but I still want the GD Mbox to answer after hours to only say "we are closed" now the general deliever box doesn't come on. Any ideas

when the customer leaves for night hit feat 984 (forward to VM) on a phone that rings and has the GD mailbox programmed to the phone ext.

Question? I have a customer who want no AA, want eight phones to ring on all lines(6lines) but he wants phone mail to answer the persons personal line like x223. How do you set it up so when a call rings in and doesn't get answers fast enough it doesn't go to greeting (the person you have called is not avilable, if you the ext of the party you and so on? Do I just do f982 and turn of AA?

Oky disregard this last post. Let's do this again.
I set all the phones to ring on the six lines. About six phones are set to ring. I took off all forwarding on the exten's so nothing forwards to phone mail. I set up night anwser to ring ext 222. Now when I put the system in nites it all work good. When the system is in the day mode about after six or seven rings the voicemail answers with the greeting I setup for x222 which says (we are closed) Anyway around this? All i want is ring no answer in the day mode. And x222 answering at nite.

I do not completly understand your scenario, here is some information. If several phones ring and they are call forwarded with the same number of rings the voice mail sends it to the General delivery mailbox since it has too many posibilities.

When you switch to another mode, say night mode, you are adding more extensions to the existing day pattern and not creating a seperate group.

Sometimes I reverse the night and day, leave the system in night mode during the day and vice versa.Have the phones to ring in night mode and the only phone to ring in day mode.

Night ring: 221 222 224 225 226
Day ring:223 only
since 223 rings in day mode it will also ring in night mode.

a couple of things to remember: If you are using the GD mailbox and any other phone forwards to VM by way of the capabilities menu AND there is no mailbox assigned to the other phone the call will go to the GD mailbox. and remember that this may also be followed by station ports that do not have a phone attached.

to test for above remove 222 from the GD mailbox and create a mailbox 222 then repeat the test that you described above and see which mailbox the call now goes to.

I think Ironhorse has the right idea here but you may probably get bye by assigning 222 to only ring at night on about 2 rings (give caller id time to show) the rest of the ringing won't mater then.

That would work but he would have to ,ext 222, getty up to answer the intercom calls during the day, it is too bad Nortel did not have seperate itcm and co call fwd,, I guess it is all based on PBX mind frame.

Yes Ironhorse I agree with you. Nortel did use a PBX mind set. What I'm going to end up doing is install a answer machine to a anolog station and just setup nites to ring that ext. and let the answer machine answer it. No stations forwarded to voicemail and direct to vm buttons on all phones plus f981 buttons on all phones.
