want real IP to goto site

I have configured a system with win 2003 server
now IE has a problem, it does not take the doman name
but it goes to a site if IP address is given

for example it will not go to

http://www.yahoo.com

but if I give IP address 10.162.xx.xx it will go to that
site

Where to set for that kindly advise me

I tried the settings made as per our Lan permitted
but is it because of some firewall settings or
wim 2003 property settings

Is your firewall blocking port 53 (DNS) ?
