Hello everyone,

I am trying to verify if we are able to upgrade our CS1000E so we have more VOIP capability.
Currently we have a license for only 150 VOIP phones.
My question is how do I know if we are able to get a software/license upgrade for our switch to give us the capability to add more phones?

I may have read in the forum somewhere it depends on the software version you have now. Below is a print out of the current software we have

What I would do is to go into LD 117 and key in INV GEN ALL. Log out and wait a while. Log back in and then go back into LD 117 and key in INV PRT ALL.

Set up a capture file first and the output will show most of the system cards which aren't needed but the sets follows afterwards and this can be viewed in excel if the file is saved as a *.csv etc.

Any IP sets showing unavailable could then be checked to see if it is free. This may show up a number of spare IP ports.

LD 22 and then type SLT will give you the license count and it is very, very doubtful that you can get any licenses for 5.0

I have done the SLT command and I am only allowed 150 phones. But was unsure if the software I have can be upgraded to allow me to have more than 150 phones.

You will need ISM Licenses to add more. I do not know if Avaya will issue licenses for that old software, I doubt it.

I am pretty sure you can only get extra licence if you first upgrade, but like Firebird says you sure your using all the ones you have configured? A quick check is LD 117 "ecnt zone" see how many are unregistered.

Have you looked at upgrading your CS1000E to the E-MetroTel solution, which will allow you to upgrade with as many licenses as you need, from 1-10,000? I have the solution running in my lab, and it works flawlessly. I have T series sets mixed with Nortel 1100/1200 sets, mixed with Aries II, and Taurus sets and even a few pure SIP sets.
