According to the ACT! help screens:

"You can set an alarm for an activity so that a message displays on-screen, or so that you can hear a sound at a specified time before the activity."

I want the message, but not the sound alarm. I haven't been able to find where to do this. Any ideas?

Found this in the Help guide. Key point is #6. Hope this helps.

To set up alarms notification

1 Open SideACT!.

2 From the Edit menu, click SideACT! Alarm Setup.

3 In the SideACT! Alarms setup dialog box, click Add to add an ACT! database that you want monitored for alarms.

Note: You can only monitor ACT! 6.0 databases.

4 In the Open dialog box, select the database, and then click Open.

If a password is assigned to the database you have selected, you will be prompted to enter the user name and password.
The database(s) you select displays in the SideACT! Alarms setup dialog box. You can display the file path and database administrator of your databases by clicking Properties.

5 From the Check Databases for new alarms drop-down list, select how often ACT! will check for alarms.

6 In the Alarm Indication box, select an alarm notification method.

· Flash tray icon. Select to flash an alarm icon in your system tray.

· Display alarms dialog. Select to display the Alarms dialog box on-screen.

· Play sound. Select to sound an alarm. Click Beep or Wav file. If you choose Wav file, browse to locate it.

7 Click OK.

For alarms to operate, you do not have to use SideACT!, however, SideACT! must either be open, minimized to the task bar, or minimized in your system tray.

Note: If you receive an alarm when ACT! is not open, you can snooze or clear it, but unlike an ACT! activity alarm, you must open the contact record to reschedule an activity associated with the alarm, or to enter details or results.
