I just installed a Norstar MICS 6.1 with a Call Pilot 150 VM. This was an upgrade from a Norstar 616/StarTalk. The customer wants one line (6)to be "protected". By this, she means she wants the line to ring continuously, without the voicemail answering it, until someone there picks it up, live. Line 6 appears on all 21 sets, and rings on most.

I cannot stop the AA from answering line 6. I have set the Call Pilot lines programming- F983- AA-Lines- Line 6=No. It continues to answer line 6.

I looked at the old 616 system programming, and found that lines 1-5 were in a line pool (A), and line 6 was public. I will try this, but I thought line pools were for outgoing calls, and see no relation to the VM.

Any ideas to get line 6 to ring unanswered?

Check line 32 instead.
depending on where your trunk cards are located, line 6 will not be line 6 on the system, but probably line 32 on a 6.1.

I did catch that one, Thanks. It is a bit confusing, though. I will re-check.

The only thing I found was to change the number of rings to a high number in CP.

It was also pointed out that ringing should be no on the CP set- Line Access- Set 252 (CP DN) chg ringing to no on line (32).

I'll try these. Thanks for the help

What happened to the tech support you were supposed to get? Please don’t answer they did not show up again. If that is the case, then you have a major problem in choosing vendors.

Previously you claimed you had programmed the whole system, but were having “one snag”. Now you are back again with more very basic questions, showing you have no understanding of the system that you are getting paid to install. Your behavior aggravates me for two reasons: One; It IS unprofessional and unethical to get paid for learning at your customers expense. Two; you give norstar a bad name. I run into customers all the time who are unsatisfied with their Norstar because whoever installed it originally had no idea what the system could do, and therefore the customer is untrained in its use. The answer to your question is: call a vendor---you are out of your depth.

Thank you Mr. Norstar, for your words of wisdom, and assistance.

update. The tech showed up this time, luckily for me. He was well worth the price, as the customer was satisfied, and so was I. He checked the programming, which was 99%, but needed that 1% corrected, and showed me how to use the T7406 wireless. But, he couldn't get the VM system to completely ignore the calls to line 32 either.

After hours of attempts, his solution, which the customer accepted, was to set the DRT delay to 10. Even though the others in the office would have callers wait 10 rings before the call rolled to voicemail, this way the`line rang at least 8 times, giving people a chance to answer. This was acceptable to the customer... The only other option he offered the customer was to set up external ringers on the T&R of the line (032), which the customer did not want.

Bottom line is- job completed.

jjimm,
It really should of been as simple as what Marv01 said. Just set line 032 under the correct table to no on the answer setting in the CP. If 6 is entered it will not be correct.
Dmac,

If the solution was to change the DRT, then it sounds like you have line 32 set prime to the VM. I am guessing you have all your lines set up that way. It is not necessary to do that. You can set the prime to the reception or none, then just program the lines to be answered by VM, and you will not have that problem.

There are many ways to program the system, but to exclude one line from the VM AA, it cant be prime to VM.

CP was checked-the line 032 was set to N, but AA kept answering. I believe the DRT prime set was VM. I sure will check. Thanks.
