Hey all,

I really have a desire to be A+ Certified. I actually work as a PC Technician and feel that it would help me more at my job.

Can anyone tell me where to being. Practice tests, study guides, etc...

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Don

Go to the CompTIA web site and print out a copy of the exam objectives. This is the list of topics covered by the exam. Read thru the exam FAQ. This will answer many of your questions. Start building your study resources. Visit some sites that deal with certification. this one, Examnotes.net, Cramsession.com, Besttests.com, etc. Look thru the posts for more study recommendations.

Google is your friend. Use it.

Study, study, study.

Purchase discount exam vouchers to offset the price of the exams.

First off does it really matter to your employer? Would they pay for the tests?

How long have you been working on computers?

A good study guide is the cramsessions books.

James, to answer your questions, I don't think it really matters to my employer but I just want to be able to understand and do more by taking this cert. I have an associates degree in Network Administration/Information Systems and I've been working as a Computer Suport Technician for 1 year now. I feel that I know a good bit about what I do but feel that taking this cert, and studying for it, will have me gaining more knowledge in areas that I may not see from day to day. Also, I feel that maybe it may help me be able to do certain jobs that may come thru that I currently am not able to do.

ddeleaumont,

I just passed both the A+ Certification tests on 5/14/04 and got my hard copy in the mail today. If you have experience as a tech, I suggest the Osborne/McGraw Hill A+ All-In-One Study Guide. It retails for ~$60 but I got it new for about $35 from Bookpool.com

CompTIA lists the tests at $145 each. I was able to get a discount by ordering an A+ Practice Test CD from Total Seminars (totalsem.com) and getting 2 discount vouchers. Net cost $206 for both tests and the CD.

By the time the CD arrived, I had already passed :)

Hope this helps,
