I'm considering getting an 837, 857 or 877 router. These routers support ADSL WAN connections. My question is what is the maximum speed/throughput across the ADSL WAN port on these routers? My reason for the question is that available DSL speeds are greater than 10mbit (the limit of the WAN ethernet port, e1, on a 831 router though faster on a 851 or 871). Can't find that info on the Cisco site.

Also interested in the difficulty associated with programming one of these routers compared to an 831.

TIA.

Here's a link to a matrix for cisco routers. It will give you max througput using process switching or using Fast/CEF switching:

If you can configure an 831 you can configure an 870. We're always here to help, cisco has great config guides, and there's always SDM.

What an eye-opener! Looks like I'm already max'ed out on our 831. I'm going to need at least an 870 series. So maybe I will try an 877.
