WAN Preformance Problems?!?

I have set up a wan connection between our two locations using ISDN with Cisco 802 routers on both sides.
This is a direct dial in connection. The goal is to have a constant connection between the stores and internet axcess at the same time. The setup works but the preformance is lacking. Cisco says that if you can ping then the equipment is working. Is there a way to test and find where the preformance is dropping or will this setup ever really work in a way I could live with?::)

Define performance.. first of all, are you using both B channels for 128K? At 1 B channel, you have 64K minus the overhead so you are not much faster then a good modem connection at 45ish Kbps. What is the ping response timing? should be around 10-30mS for ISDN.. maybe a bit faster if you are lucky. The 802 is not exactly a speed demon so it may be the bottleneck. Take a look at the port statistics and see what the load is on the port during "normal" traffic. You can use a monitor from someone like Solarwinds and I have specific ISDN monitoring tools but I have not needed to use them.
