Hi,

I have two remote office and need to connect to SQL Server in NY.
I am using VPN connection but the VPN connection always DOWN.
I am thinking to OPEN port 1433 & 1434 to allow remote office connect to SQL server.
Can I OPEN port 1433 & 1434 for SQL Server?
Is it very easy for Hacker to hack SQL Server?
I am using Linksys Firewall VPN Router. Is it enough protect my SQL Server after OPEN port?

Any other suggestions?

Many Thanks in advance!

1433 is the default port. You may open another one if you wish. The servers connecting to the one in NY would have to use the same port number as that one in order for the connection to be successful.

Hi TheBugSlayer,
Thanks for your information!
How can I change port number in SQL Server & Client Program?
Is it security OPEN SQL port to public?

Thanks
