On a small network (5 PC's - all hard wired into an SMC 7008ABR Router) we have noted that on ALL PC's there is now a WAN connection listed in the Network Connections area on all of the Windows XP Pro and XP Home PCs.

Being a Linux/UNIX guy...I have to ask...is this normal? I have never seen this just magically appear. Each of the PC's are different brands. The only commonality they have is they are all attached via the SMC router.

How can I get ride of this WAN connection that has appeared? If I disable it, everything runs just fine. I never needed it before.

As I stated, I have never seen this behavior before.

Have you tried deleting it?
