hey guys i want to allow users to download wallpaper and screensavers for there computer.

1)What Size and what file format would be the best for doing this( re: jpegs, bmps, gifs,)..
2)Most of the time when you download wallpapers from somewhere it has a option of two different resolutions right?..Why is that?..Please explain..

as far as wallpaper goes, the two most common screen resolutions are 800x600 and 1024x786. If you download one that is not the right size it will either go off the screen, or duplicate itself on the screen to fill out. jpegs are the smallest--but you sacrifice quality, gifs are the best quality compression and bitmaps are waaaaaay too big, but perfect quality.

hope this helps you a bit
Adam

actually, just dawned on me, in order for one to use a picture as a background it must be a bitmap, unless she has "Active Desktop" enabled. So you'd probably be best using a bmp.

Ok thank you..Know when you say 800x600 and 1024x786 is that the actual pixel size of the file or not? It says resolution but does that mean 800x600 pixels? If not what is the pixel sizes for each resolution size?

You got it virt! It's that simple! Just as you would set the size of your movie in Flash!

;-)

thanks old man...hey where you been?..haven't seen you here in a day or so..also one more question?..say i have a bryce 4 animated movie that i want the user to be able to download and view..you know(well atleast with aol)you click on a movie and windows media player and/or aol's media player starts to buffer and play the clip, is there a certain way i need to upload the file or just upload it to f2s create a button for the url to the bryce file and that's it?..not quite sure..when the user clicks that button will the clip automaticaly start buffering and play?

Don't know much about Bryce!
Just looked at some info pages...

Found this... Which leads me to believe it could be as simple as yes, just provide a link and the correct player should take care of the rest.

Animation Export:

Sequential PICT
QuickTime® (.MOV)
RealMovie (.RM)
AVI (.AVI)

I've played quite a bit with RealPlayer & QT & WindowsMedia Player before coming to Flash, and both options are available for all of them, you can use the standalone player, a pop-up, or embed the players in html, as you embed the Flash Player.

Starting to shoot a documentry this morning, I will then edit... Guess you'll see a little less of me around here for a while!

;-)

have fun on the documentry..will see you when you return..thanks for the help..
