Wallpaper problem on bootup!!!!

I've had the following problem in Win Me and Win 95. When I bootup I get the Win Logo, but before the final stages of booting and getting to the wallpaper I have chosen, I get a former wallpaper that I had chosen and it's all distorted. I don't want to go playing in any of the *.sys files just yet. Help!!!!

- Goto your desktop
- right-click -->active desktop -->uncheck show web content
- right-click on desktop again goto properties
- go to background and select (none)
- right-click on desktop again -->RECHECK show web content
- right click desktop again goto properties
- background --> choose your background

-then re-start to see if that worked (it worked for me when I had the same problem)

Active Desktop is evil! It did the same thing to me after working seamlessly forever. One day, it just went crazy on start-up. Is there a fix or anything for this?
