Can I wall mount an MLX-5D phone? I have tried and it's like an america's funniest home video, the phone is fine until it is hung on the jack then it dies out. When I take it off the jack it works again...
sounds like the punch-down of the jack is overly sensitive. I have run into this with wall-mounts on a Legend. The phone would work plugged into the same jack if it wasn't mounted to the wall, but as soon as it was put on the wall-mount jack, it stopped working. I had to repunch the jack to make sure the connections were strong.
What I have done in the past is crimp an end on the cable and cut the recepticle out of the jack - if that makes sense it works pretty good. if not I can explain better
The MLX phones don't have a "well" in them to allow for the part of the wall jack that sticks out. If you have the typical wall mount jack that consists of a metal cover, and metal back plate, and a plastic jack module, you can seperate the jack module from the back plate - plug in the line cord and push them into the wall. Mount the back plate, feed the line cord out through the bottom (not through the hole in the moddle of the face plate), screw on the face plate. Now you have a metal faceplate, with a rectangular hole in the middle, but with the two mounting ears on the top and bottom and a short line cord feeding out of the bottom. Plug the line cord in the bottom of the phone, and mount it to the mounting ears.
