Waiting for tape all night

How would I configure Legato to fail a group after a specified time? For example, if the person who is responsible for rotating the tape does not, then I'd like the group to fail. Otherwise, when they remember to change the tape when they come in the next day, the tape is then mounted and the backup runs during business hours. I like for it to wait for the tape for maybe 30 minutes or so after the job starts, and then simply fail (or stop) when no writeable volume is inserted.

Thanks.

Use a "tape mount request notification" to not only send a
message but to also start a script that checks for the savegroup PID and kills it.

I'm completely in the dark when it comes to scripting. Can you be a bit more specific?

Thanks.

Let me guess - you are using Windows? - Unfortunately,
scripting is not my favorite as well.

There are a lot of tools available, for instance
PULIST (finding the PID)
KILL (killing a PID)

However, there are two complex parts:
- You must find out the right savegrp command to kill
in case you have multiple groups running.
This is the most critical part as the notifications
are not tight to a specific group.
- From the output you just need the PID, not all infos.
You need to filter it.

Sorry, but i cannot really be of more help.
