Waiting for a Line - SIP Trunks

Running 8.1 ( 81) with SIP trunks. Users reports that they get the Waiting for a Line sometimes, they either wait - 20 seconds and the calls go through or they hangup keep redial and the call connects right away.

- Trunks Utilization is about 15 out of 22 lines max. Per carrier.
- Phones are 9608 running G729, the are on remote network. ( could latency effect the signaling?)

You changed the default 10 ch in the SIP URI's to what actually have available?

Battled this with L3 and Global before. Happened with NO SBC to aggregate the connection and intermittent on outbound.

Carrier did not recognize the handshake request and Avaya only sends one (by my memory). This is where the SBC comes in. It can be setup to resend this request multiple times.

Our customer never got an SBC, but converted to PRI.

We fought with the LEC, provided Monitor Traces, then Wireshark traces when they didn't believe the first ones. They made adjustments and the issue got better, but never went away.

Im assuming this is already done but if you moved from analog or another type of line do the following;

1. If same line group ID is entered in ARS then change the old lines to 'out of service' or change the line group ID
2. I have seen SIP channels get hung up if RTP relay is NOT enabled. So possibly enable RTP relay

Just some basics but figured I would chime in
