When target can be used as well, but it works just like waitfor. If you need to match on just a few characters, then pare down the string you are looking for unless that will cause false positives. If doing so is not practical, then use two waitfors - the first to detect a prompt or static string, then the second to look for just the few characters you are interested in (again, if that would work in your environment).
