w98se (choppy sound)

I'm getting choppy sound, when I transfer my move from my dv recorder to my computer and try to play it back on my computer.
I know i have to configure something on the hard/driver. cause I have done it before, but i just cannot remember how to do it again. Can someone put back my memory back in gear.?
