W98 to XP - can't access archives from disc

Prior to upgrading from W98 to XP, I burned all of my archives on a data disc. In XP, the disc is blank. I removed XP and opened the disc in W98 and the data is there.

Why is the disc blank in XP? Any possible solutions for transferring the archives would also be appreciated.
