A user with W98 Sec ed looses much of his System resources upon opening one or two Applications. This PC is configured with 128MB of Ram and has a PIII 733Mhz cpu.

The apps are GroupWise and Lotus 123.

Any suggestions on memory managment would be welcomed.

Thanks,

Can you tell if any memory managers are running? (Like EMM386.exe or HIMEM.sys) I believe Himem.sys maxes out at 64MB. If it's running, your machine may not be accessing addresses beyond the 64K Himem sees. How many icons are in the taskbar?
Drop that down to 2 or 3 by running MSCONFIG, select the Startup tab, and uncheck all the crap. [sig]
Jim
reboot@pcmech.com
<a href= & Sue's Free Files
Current moderator at Staff contributor/moderator at Windows 9x/ME instructor.
Do you have any Anti Virus software running in the background, disable temporarly and see if it sorts your problem
