Greetings,

I'm tring to find out why our W95 and W98 clients do not shutdown properly. If users detach befor shutting down windows sometimes shuts down completely. We use client versions 2.5, 3.1, and 3.0 The problem exists on all three clients. I've checked the client properties for a setting but found none.

Does anyone one have any suggestions...

Thanks,
Lfoldesi

Also check out the FAQ on the Win95/98 forum. There is a great one on shutting down win98. A+ MCP

I have the same problem with Win98. The Microsoft fix just made the problem worse. (Unusual for a Microsoft bug fix!)I have been experimenting and found it to be an issue with only certain network cards. The problem is not around on my clients using Dlink cards but is on the Intel pro 100's.

I have the same problem too and have found no fix except to shut down to the DOS prompt. It shuts down quickly that way and it seems to logout properly. Thne just shut off the machine. That has been our cure.

Wow this is extremely weird. I jumped on today to post a similar problem, only to find it already posted. I have Davicom 9102 Lan Risers on PC100 boards. Whenever I installed Netware Client 3.30 or 3.31, the machines blue screen, or windows protection error on shutdown. If it's a related problem i'll try the suggestions above. If anyone else can offer new light on the subject i'd appreciate that as well. Thanks

Ted

I would certainly say it is driver related. Download the latest drivers from the relevant manufacturer and see if that makes a difference. -----------------------------------------------------
