When I boot my W95 PC the system halts and gives the following message "C:\<rem - by Windows95 Network - c:\windows\netstart". I then have no option but to restart the PC which then only goes into Safemode. Performing a Scandisk has no positive effect. Anybody have any ideas?

Many thanks

Probably, the message you see can be altered in the autexec.bat. I assume that c:\windows\netstart was prefixed with C:\<rem - by Windows95 Network for some valid reason. That being the case, boot to DOS, at the prompt type EDIT, open AUTOEXEC.BAT and alter the line to the original command. Remember to save and reboot and then see if the problem goes away or reoccurs. If the latter is true, then the WINDOZE network does not like the command.

Regards

Phil
