Hi,
my Dell Studio XPS is connected through a UPS ( Geek Squad Power Management Software) and it 'thinks' it is running on battery power, even though it is not.

Any way to convince the OS that it is on AC power other than disconnecting the UPS?
It is not really a problem except that I can't rerun the Windows Experience rating and the screen saver power setings use the On Battery settings.

TIA

What brand UPS? Can you get proper software from the UPS manufacturer?

Hi,
That is the manufacturer's software - It is a UPS from the
Geek Squad ( Best Buy house brand).

Software is up to date as far as I can find.

It is listed as a
Model # GS 1285U

Hardware ID BFE5105.A21

Hi,
Solved!

Unit is actually a CyberPower UPS abd the latest drivers from them solved the 'On Battery' issue with W7.
