I am running ArcServeIT 6.61 with the latest service packs. I use an HP Autoloader DLT 1/9.

I occassionally get this error message W6959 "A library operation has been attempted that is invalid at this time."

It never happens when the backup starts.
It can happen when the backup selects a 2nd tape during the backup, it can happen if I start and stop the job engine. If I open and close the autoloader it might happen.

This warning message is not included with my ArcServe help. I called Arcserve and they had me run the Device Configuration setup. This sometimes cures the problem but not always.

I have sampled my backups/tested restores and everything seems to be ok. BUT what does this message mean and how do I stop it from happening?

Any advice/direction is appreciated

It is not trying to do a self-initiated audit of the library but failing is it?

Not sure if I understand the question. This is my first experience with ArcServe and an autoloader on NT.

This Warning does occur if I stop and start the tape engine.

During nightly backups when it finishes tape 1 and selects a tape for #2, I get the warning. (I would assume it's initiating some kind of test to find the next available tape).

I also get the Tape alert message W6965 without any description. I get it when I do an inventory of our HP DLT Library. I use ArcServe 6.5 with the Tape Library option 3.0
