W3884 Unable to position media catalog file

Hi

I am trying to perform a restore from backup which ran over 2 tapes. When it asks for the second media, I insert the second tape and it immediately comes back with the error: W3884 Unable to position media catalog file.
Arcserve help suggests that the drive may need cleaning etc, which it has been, but also suggests that the tape drive may not support tape catalog. What should I do?

It is a problem with the Local ARCserve database...

Steps to take car..

1) Run mergecar.exe in the dos prompt of the arcserve folder
2) Delete R*.* files in the database folder
3) Run a restore

Make sure there are no cat files in the temp folder of arcserve in the process.
