Hi,

When the backup proces is at 99%, i get an incomplete backup. The reason is that some files are marked with 'AC=Shared Violation'. Example: C:\Winnt\System32\Config\security.log and files like that.

Please help...

HI,

Please detail the problem.. with the version of ARCserve and the OS in use...

ARcserve works differently on different versions of the OS.

I have installed ArcServe 2000, BAOP and Disaster Recovery Option. I installed right after that ArcServe 2000 SP4 and Disaster Recovery SP4. When I look in the program at info I see ArcServe 2000 V7.0 (Build 1100)

I get an incomplete message at 99%. When I look in the Activity Log at Job Status I see the next:

W3404 Unable to open file. (FILE=C:\WINNT\system32\config\SYSTEM, EC=SHARING VIOLATION)
W3404 Unable to open file. (FILE=C:\WINNT\system32\config\DEFAULT, EC=SHARING VIOLATION)

Forgot to say. I am using Windows NT Server Edition with SP6a128bit and a EXABYTE Tapestreamer.

You need to exclude the \system32\config directory. This is where the registry information is and is probably in use at the time of backup. If you exclude the directory and include the system_state or registry you should complete without and issue.

HI,

What comtec says is true.... as far as it is a Win2k box u HAVE TO use the system sate...

However, in a situation where you have to perform a DR, the config folder has to be backed up for NT4 to come up without any issues.

now that this is a NT$ server...
this looks like a permissions issue..

What is the ARCserve system account in use??

U can find this on the Server admin ,
go to the ADmin menu ,Arcserve system account..

On the PDC verify the following

this user account should be a part of the :

1. Administrators
2. backup operators
3. Domain admins ( set as primary)

Advanced user permissions
1. Act as a part of the OS
2. Log on as a service
3. Log on locally

cheers
