I am running XP with Norton Anti Virus 2002. After downloading a file and unzipping I got a pop up window from Norton AV saying it detected and repaired a virus, W32.pinfi, on my computer. Problem is the Virus Alert pop up window will not go way for long. It keeps coming back.

I also can not run a Live Update- an error occurs everytime.

I went to Norton's website and ran a scan. Results were 111 files infected. The virus' and the removal tools listed do not include the virus I have.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated-

Ray

Howdy:

Did you shutdown system restore BEFORE you cleaned the virii??

That is a MUST.. Disable system restore and then run Norton again..

Once the virii is cleaned, enable System Restore again !!

Thanks for the prompt post- I have disabled System Restore and I have tried to run NOrton AV but keep getting an error message when I try to do a manual scan.

The message is :

" Internet Explorer Script Error
An Error has occured in the script on this page

Line : 29
Char 5
Error : Permission Denied
Code 0

URL: res//c:\Progra~1\Norton~1 /NAVOpts.dll/optionsbtm.htm

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

Yes No "

Any ideas or suggestions-

Thanks,

Ray
